IATF Stakeholder Communiqué

This communiqué is to inform all organizations certified to IATF 16949 of the establishment of a new legal entity for the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), named IATF AISBL, registered in Brussels. Previously, the IATF operated as an ad hoc group of automotive manufacturers and their respective National Automotive Industry Associations.

An AISBL (Association Internationale Sans But Lucratif) is a Belgian legal structure for international non-profit organizations.

The creation of IATF AISBL strengthens the governance framework of the IATF and supports its continued global role.

For organizations currently certified to IATF 16949, there is no impact and no action required. Your certification remains valid, and audit and certification activities will continue unchanged with your existing Certification Body.

All IATF-recognized Certification Bodies will continue to operate as they do today, maintaining their current reporting relationships with IATF Oversight Offices. There are no changes to audit requirements, certification rules, or issued certificates.

Over the past 25 years, the IATF has become the global benchmark for automotive quality management, supporting nearly 105,000 certified organizations across more than 100 countries. This achievement reflects the strong collaboration among Certified Organizations, Certification Bodies, IATF Oversight Offices, National Automotive Industry Associations, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

The establishment of IATF AISBL further strengthens our ability to support this global community and to promote consistent, high-quality performance throughout the automotive supply chain.

We appreciate your continued partnership and look forward to our ongoing journey of excellence.
